COLCHESTER United have signed experienced midfielder Paul Digby from Scottish Premiership side Dundee.

The U’s have made the 6ft 5in former Ipswich Town and Cambridge United player their third new summer signing, ahead of the new season.

Digby was released from his contract at Dundee by mutual agreement and has now signed for Colchester.

The 31-year-old is a former England under-20 international, who can play in both defensive and central midfield.

He has made more than 350 appearances in his competitive career, joined Scottish Premiership outfit Dundee on a two-year deal, last summer.

Digby was a regular for the Dark Blues in the first half of the season but his last competitive appearance for them came against rivals Dundee United, in the opening days of 2026.

Digby, who was born in Sheffield, began his career at Barnsley and made his debut in the Championship when he was just 16 years old.

He was snapped up by Ipswich in 2016 initially in a loan deal that was later made permanent and spent two seasons at the Suffolk club, before going on to play for the likes of Mansfield Town, Forest Green Rovers and Stevenage.

He joined Cambridge United in 2020 and helped them win promotion to League One the following season.

Digby clocked up more than 200 appearances for the U's over five seasons before joining Dundee, last summer.

He made 18 appearances for the Scottish club last season but has now signed for Colchester.

Digby becomes Colchester's third summer signing, following the capture of centre-back Sean Raggett and left-back Jake Leake, last week.
