SERVING up incredible Greek street food from a mobile unit in Colchester, The Pitta has been winning rave reviews.

It has a 4.6 rating on Deliveroo from more than 500 reviews with diners praising the “high quality” ingredients and labelling it the “best street food in Colchester.”

The business is usually based in Lion Walk but while works are undertaken at St Nicholas Square it is based in the High Street.

Craving some traditional style Greek food I decided to have my dinner delivered straight to my door.

My friend and I decided on the Souvlaki meal deal.

We were able to choose two Souvlaki pitta wraps and also got a portion of chips, two soft drinks and a dessert.

Diners can choose their fillings for the wraps with chicken, pork, smoked pork sausage and halloumi on the menu.

As we are both vegetarians we opted for the halloumi and chose the traditional tzatziki sauce.

Other sauce options include mild mustard mayo, chili sauce or hummus.

The wrap came with a generous amount of cheese, chips, lettuce, tomato and onion.

For those not keen on any of the salad ingredients there is an option to have the wrap without.

When they arrived the wraps were just the right temperature and the halloumi was well cooked.

We also had a portion of chips which were covered in salt and oregano giving them the taste of the Mediterranean.

The portion sizes of both the wraps and side of chips were more than enough and well worth the money.

For dessert you have the option of baklava or Portokalopita.

Despite reviews stating it was the “best baklava” they had ever had we went for the latter which is a traditional Greek dessert.

Also known as orange pie it is made with phyllo pastry, orange and honey.

It was a delicious way to round out the meal.

With two cans of drink included the meal came to a total of £22.36.

The outlet also offers other deals with bigger portions and more sides.

We were happy with our choice of deal and thought it was well worth the money.

We’ll definitely be ordering from there again.
