DANNY Cowley is hoping some extra recovery time will boost Colchester United’s chances of welcoming back two key attackers.

Jayden Fevrier and Harry Anderson would have both missed the U’s home game with Stockport County, which was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

However, the wide duo now have additional time to prove their fitness, with Colchester’s next game now their long trip to Barrow, this weekend.

Fevrier suffered an impact injury in the 1-1 draw at Sutton United last weekend, while Anderson has missed the U's last three games with an Abductor Longus strain.

U’s boss Cowley told Col U TV: “Even in the most disappointing situations, there’s always some positives.

“Boys like Harry Anderson and Jayden Fevrier will hopefully be able to be back in training next week and available for the Barrow game.”

Colchester lie five points above the League Two relegation zone with 12 games remaining, following the weekend's results.

They have drawn six of their first eight games under the Cowleys, including their last three matches and boss Danny says they must keep working together, to pull away from danger.

“We have to try to keep working to influence the mentality of the group," said Cowley.

“They want to do well; sometimes, they want to do too well and then as a consequence, they get tight and tense and that’s something that we have to manage.

“It wouldn’t be helpful for me to be overly critical but at the same time, they’re professional footballers and they have to be resilient and a little bit more durable and a little bit more robust.

“I want us to be a good team.

“I don’t want my team to be a back foot team or a team that gets in the lead and then goes on the ropes and tries to hang on until the end.

“I want us to be fearless and I think that’s what our supporters want.

“We just have to keep working together, because it was never going to be easy; I don’t think Colchester United have ever made anything easy!”
