LEWIS Miccio has left Braintree Town and joined National League South side St Albans City.

The 25-year-old left-sided defender was part of the Iron's promotion-winning team last season, making 21 appearances including their memorable play-off final win over Worthing.

Writing on social media, Miccio said: 'Really looking forward to this next chapter with @stalbanscityfc can’t wait to get going.

'I’d also just like to thank everyone involved @braintreetownfc for the last season, wishing them all the best for next year'.

The Australian-born defender had helped Oxford City gain promotion to the National League, prior to joining Braintree last summer.

Miccio can play in the centre of defence or as a left-back and played every minute in Oxford City’s National League South play-off matches.

He went on to make 13 appearances for the Hoops in the National League, before signing for Braintree.

Miccio joins fellow Iron promotion winner Alfie Payne in making the switch from Braintree to St Albans, this summer.

The 24-year-old midfielder, who made 158 appearances for the Iron, joined St Albans last week.
