COLCHESTER United legend Karl Duguid has stepped down as boss of Essex Senior League side Stanway Rovers.
The former U's favourite resigned from the role following their 3-1 defeat at Halstead Town, on Tuesday night.
The result left Stanway second from bottom in the table following one win in their opening nine matches.
In a statement, the club said: "Stanway Rovers FC have tonight accepted the resignation of Karl Duguid.

Karl has been a fantastic person to have around the club and has conducted himself exceptionally through what has been a tough start to the season.

Duguid, who made more than 450 appearances for Colchester during two spells at the club, returned to Stanway for another coaching spell in July, 2022.
The double U's promotion winner had previously worked as manager and assistant manager at Stanway.
