BRETT Munyard has resigned as BRIGHTLINGSEA REGENT boss following their 6-1 defeat at Haringey Borough.

In a short statement, the R's said: 'Brightlingsea Regent have this evening accepted the resignation of manager Brett Munyard.

'Munyard departs Regent after 16 months in charge of the club.

'We thank Brett for everything he has done in his time with the club and wish Brett all the very best for the future.'

 

Writing on social media, Munyard said: 'I’m really really sad to say I’ve decided to step down as manager of Brightlingsea Regent. There are of course many reasons and far too many for a tweet.

'I’m so thankful to the club for the opportunity and going to miss everyone very much ⁦‪@Brightlingseafc‬⁩'.

Jermaine Anderson scored a late consolation in Brightlingsea's defeat at Haringey, which leaves them bottom of the Pitching In Isthmian League Premier table.

A late penalty from Alfie Matthews sealed BRAINTREE TOWN a 1-0 win at Farnborough to boost their promotion hopes.

Matthews struck home from the spot with ten minutes remaining to seal Iron's victory in the National League South clash, after Aaron Blair had been fouled in the box.

Angelo Harrop's side are now unbeaten in nine matches and sit in sixth spot, in the table.

In Pitching In Isthmian League division north, HEYBRIDGE SWIFTS enjoyed a 3-0 home win over New Salamis.

MALDON AND TIPTREE drew 0-0 at Great Wakering Rovers, while WITHAM TOWN lost 4-0 at Lowestoft Town.

In the Essex Senior League, FC CLACTON got back to winning ways with an emphatic 5-0 triumph over Southend Manor, at The Austin Arena.

Adam Tilson scored twice, with Mekhi McKenzie, Ted Collis and Jordan Lartey also on target.

HALSTEAD TOWN lost 2-0 at Redbridge and LITTLE OAKLEY were beaten 2-1 at home by Athletic Newham, with Danny Garrad on target.
