TEN-MAN BRAINTREE TOWN saw off Chippenham Town 1-0 to claim one of their best-ever National League South results.

Gio Crichlow's second-half strike helped the Iron beat a much-fancied Chippenham outfit at the Dunmow Group Stadium, leaving manager Ryan Maxwell "ecstatic and proud".

The victory has moved Braintree up to 16th place and further away from the relegation zone.

Maxwell said: "I am phenomenally proud of all the players involved and couldn't have asked for anymore from them.

"To play against such a good side with only ten men for around an hour was incredible and then deservedly scoring what turned out to be the winning goal 20 minutes from time and still at that stage we were looking the better team."

BRIGHTLINGSEA REGENT were beaten 2-1 at home by Margate, in Pitching In Isthmian League Premier.

Luke Skinner gave Brightlingsea the lead after 12 minutes, with his first goal for the club.

But Benas Vaivada levelled for Margate ten minutes before the break, before Crossley Lema netted the visitors' winner early in the second half.

In division north, HEYBRIDGE SWIFTS' game against Great Wakering Rovers was postponed.

WITHAM TOWN were 1-0 winners at MALDON AND TIPTREE, on Friday night.

Ayo Olukoga's strike just before half-time gave the visitors a huge win, at Park Drive.

In the Essex Senior League, STANWAY ROVERS' match against White Ensign was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, as was LITTLE OAKLEY'S game at Stansted.

FC CLACTON played out an entertaining 0-0 draw with Walthamstow, at The Austin Arena.

In Thurlow Nunn League first division south, WIVENHOE TOWN beat Coggeshall United 2-1.

Tom Ashworth 's late winner secured three important points for the Dragons, who had taken a first-half lead through Karl Swanborough before Coggeshall equalised from the penalty spot.

HALSTEAD TOWN were beaten 3-2 at home by AFC Sudbury Reserves.

Fred Ambrose gave the visitors the lead and although Alfie Cleal equalised, Luke Hiskin quickly restored AFC Sudbury Reserves' lead from the penalty spot.

Billy Walsh made it 3-1 soon after half-time and although Jordan Blackwell pulled a goal back, the home side were beaten.
