BRIGHTLINGSEA Regent have appointed Brett Munyard as their new first-team manager.

The Pitching In Isthmian League Premier strugglers have moved quickly to replace Tom Austin, who resigned as the R's manager last week following a run of disappointing results.

Munyard has taken over as Regent's first team manager, after quitting as boss of Essex Senior League outfit White Ensign.

Munyard's assistant Mark Healy and coach Ricky Stubbs at White Ensign have also made the switch to the North Road club.

The trio had been with White Ensign for six seasons, helping them rise from Step 7 to Step 5, the highest level the club has ever played at.

Brightlingsea chairman Terry Doherty said: “We are really excited to have Brett and his team on board.

“We were really impressed by their attitude, enthusiasm and passion.

“We look forward to a new era under our new manager.

"We would like to thank White Ensign for allowing us to speak to Brett and his team and wish them all the best in their search for a replacement.

"We hope you all make Brett, Mark and Ricky very welcome at North Road as they take charge of the R’s for the first time on Tuesday evening when we host Bowers and Pitsea."

Brightlingsea currently lie in 19th spot in the Isthmian Premier table.

The R's slumped to a 6-0 defeat at home to Horsham, at the weekend.
