REPORTS linking former Colchester United boss Matt Bloomfield with the vacant Barrow role are thought to be wide of the mark, the Gazette understands.
The 41-year-old, who spent nearly five months in charge of the U's in the 2022-23 season, is among the front-runners to take the vacant head coach role at the League Two club, according to Bet365.
However, the Gazette understands that Barrow is highly unlikely to be Bloomfield's next managerial role.

Danny Cowley: 'I look back at those 100 games at Colchester with great pride'
Bloomfield has been without a club since leaving League One side Luton Town, in October.
When Bloomfield took charge at Colchester in 2022, they were one point above the League Two relegation zone, after ten matches of the season.
He won nine, drew six and lost 12 of the 27 matches he took charge of for the U’s in all competitions before leaving to join his former club Wycombe Wanderers in February, 2023.

Barrow currently lie 18th in the League Two table and four points above the relegation zone, following their 3-0 home defeat to Tranmere Rovers on Tuesday night.
Former Carlisle United boss Neil McDonald has taken over as the club’s interim first team head coach, following Whing’s dismissal.
Jon Brady leads the way in the latest Bet 365 odds for the vacant Barrow position following his success at Northampton Town, who he led last season to a best League One points tally since the 2007/08 season.
