COLCHESTER United boss Danny Cowley has scooped the Sky Bet League Two Manager of the Month award for November.

The U’s head coach has claimed the award after his side produced some impressive form last month, taking nine points from four games.

Cowley’s month also included masterminding a 2-0 triumph at leaders Walsall amid an injury crisis and taking taxis to the game after their team bus broke down.

That was followed by a 3-1 win at high-flying Notts County and then a home victory over Cheltenham Town.

Danny Cowley: 'I look back at those 100 games at Colchester with great pride'

Colchester boss Cowley said: "It’s a team effort, credit to the staff, everyone’s gone above and beyond.

"The boys on the pitch have done well, their consistency has been exceptional.

"I thought we’d win it in October with the points we accumulated, but we didn’t, and we’ve managed to win it in November.

"Two good away performances at Walsall and Notts County and then backing it up at home.

"Credit to the rhythm and consistency that the playing group have been able to maintain.”

Former Barnsley and Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Wilson, who chairs the Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month judging panel, said: “With all the travel chaos before the Walsall game, it would be easy for Danny to make an excuse if you don’t win the game.

“No excuses from his team, they went on to beat the table toppers and collect nine points from their four games in November.”

Sky Sports’ EFL pundit Don Goodman said: “It was a good month for Danny Cowley as he watched his side pick up nine points from four games.

“But what makes it even more impressive is they’re managing an injury crisis, had to do without a team bus and visited two of the toughest away grounds in the league.”

Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies added: “Colchester United were the major movers in League Two during November.

“Danny Cowley’s side bounced back from an early defeat to win their next three matches and earn a significant rise in our ratings.
