COLCHESTER United remain a point adrift of safety in League Two with five games remaining following their 2-1 home defeat to promotion-bound Stockport County, on Tuesday night.

U's fans have their say on an eventful night at the JobServe Community Stadium, for Danny Cowley's side.

The only shooting we seem to do particularly well is ourselves in the foot. On Sat we only played well for an hour; we played well for prob 80 mins tonight and still come away empty handed due to individual mistakes at the back. Should have taken 4 points from top 2 teams in L2.

I've been saying it since it was rumoured that Taylor was being recalled by Luton, we have to get a replacement. We didn't and now look at us! Yes we are making mistakes at the back, but if your forwards don't score goals you are in big trouble. As for pens, really!!!

Yet again masters of our own downfall. Play well in spells and game the league leaders a game. But mistakes and a missed pen mean yet again we come away with nothing to show for it. Need to find an answer and soon. Need to get at least a point at Crawley.

Just plain old me

If you can't score a gift of a penalty then you don't deserve anything no matter how well you play

Chris

Positives; Mingi, McGeehan (apart from pen!), Akinde, Read. McGeehan worked hard all game & had it been for a better pen. He would have had 2 goals and MOM? Why is Read is not taking Pens. His left foot would do wonders from the spot! Confidence lower than a snakes belly.

We deserve to go down, sadly. I feel as if Sutton only needs one more victory to seal our fate. 2 wins in 15 for the Cowley's who've not been able to address the defensive issues and not found a formula to score goals. Pen misses show a weak mentality.

Our performances are way better than before, that is what makes it more frustrating coming away from these games empty handed. We played well today but individual errors and not taking another penalty opportunity caused us to drop points again.

I thinks shame we didn’t win We were the better side but gave away. A goal and didn’t convert. We are not good enough and do match unfortunately our position in league for talent. I hope we can change it by one place. Match forest G and Suttons result and we have the games

Played well. If we go down it will be because of the basics & there’ll be no one to blame but ourselves. That said, maintain that performance & intensity level for the next 5 games & we’ll be ok I feel.

Mathew Parks

5 huge games left! No room for excuses. What's truly frustrating? Despite our competitiveness, individual errors plague every match. It's genuine leadership we are missing

Russell

I know we have a very young team and it’s pleasing to see the tenacity in recent games BUT we still show that naivety in giving away unnecessary fouls in dangerous areas. The yellow cards must be mounting up for some key players now and we can ill afford to lose them now!

Don't know what to say... its too painful. I will deffo say we kept fighting to the last and I applaud them for that. I will also say we just can't score pens can we. Oh well onto the next. Up The Us

Andrew Bingham

You boys played very good, and had us pinned back for large parts of the game, probably one of the toughest teams we’ve played all season, How the heck are you in the relegation zone? (SCFC supporter)

This team of overpaid wasters remain incapable of doing the basics right and the chuckle brothers aren’t smiling any more…. In the 17 years before Cowling we had 3 promotions and 3 Wembley finals. Now on the verge of three relegations in the 17 years since he bought HIS club.
