COLCHESTER United were beaten 2-1 by Wrexham in front of their biggest crowd of the season, on Saturday afternoon.

Goals from Max Cleworth and Paul Mullin condemned the U's to their first home defeat under the Cowleys, after John Akinde had fired them ahead just after half-time.

The result leaves Colchester a point adrift of safety in League Two, with six games remaining.

U's fans have their say on their team's defeat, at the JobServe Community Stadium.

The confidence the team played with from kick off was inspiring. For the first 60 minutes it was all us and we had plenty of chances to score many goals that unfortunately we didn’t take. Defensive mistakes ultimately lost us the game. It was lovely seeing the stands busier!

All of what Danny Cowley said on bbc essex.

Central defence was very poor, did well for 60 minutes, and then switched off and stopped playing. Defence needs to be sorted if we are going to survive.

Played well until we scored. After that seemed to sit back and invite them on. Only looked like one winner when they equalised. Need to get points from games like this.

Too many long balls played out of defence, even in the first half when Col U were the better side. Why bypass such a good midfield unit? Looked much better and more controlled when defence played the ball to them

Mentality again the issue. 2 terrible goals to concede. Cowley absolutely spot on in his assessment. To find a positive, if we find the level of the 1st hour consistently we’ll beat most teams. Mingi again excellent.

Paul Chilver

Played well for first 60 minutes although could have been more clinical. Last 30 lacked intensity and two defensive lapses cost us again.

Strange performance. Usually we are fighting all the way to the end to scrap a point against weaker sides and today we just gave up against a top Wrexham side that didn't turn up today.

Played 62 mins of good football, but Mullins' equaliser threw our game plan out the window. Sunday league defending cost us. Wasn't expecting points today, but our defense let us down.

Craig Dees

Hall too lightweight and no leadership!

Faded badly after 60 minutes. Midfield lost its bite and yet again stupid defensive errors cost us. Hopper was outstanding first half but team’s goal threat still minimal. Dire trouble. The only consolation is FGR and Sutton both lost. Stockport and Creepy Crawley won’t be easy.

Si Collinson

We played well for 60 mins or so and then just imploded. Not good enough, we only have ourselves to blame and Wrexham didn’t win it, we lost it. Can’t switch off that. Need to get points on the board.

Honestly deflated. We were the better side bar none for 1 hour of a 90 min match. Then, I don't know if we got cocky or what, but we sat back, let them play their game and capitulated!! We cannot be doing that, at all. This is why I fear for our efl safety. but #WeGoAgain
