COLCHESTER United's under-21s suffered a 5-0 defeat at AFC Bournemouth in their latest Professional Development League match, writes BRIAN WALLER.

The U's youngsters made their first-ever visit to play at Bournemouth, who last season were in the Alliance League, in a match played behind closed doors at the Stadium.com, in Ringwood.

When the sides met at Park Drive in Maldon in late September, the Cherries won a closely-fought match, 1-0.

After an unbeaten run of seven league and cup games, the U's hopes at half-time did not look good as Bournemouth were in control, as the hosts led 2-0 at the interval.

It was a bright start by Bournemouth, for whom Acosta Gonalez's free-kick hit the defensive wall after a foul on Tyler Adams.

Then Colchester keeper Ted Collins was in action saving from the same forward.

However the hosts' pressure told on 18 minutes as Adu-Adji scored with a deflected shot, after the ball was reversed to him by Sadi.

A second goal was added by Landa after a strong press and he fired in from 25 yards, two minutes into first-half stoppage-time.

Things got no better for Colchester after the break, as Bournemouth added three more goals.

A piece of class by Landa saw the hosts make it 4-0 on 50 minutes, as his smart turn outwitted Collins and a U’s defender.

More pressing set up Sadi to score the hosts' fourth goal, five minutes later.

And Bournemouth wrapped up their win when some good footwork from Sadi saw him seal victory for the hosts, as Colchester's unbeaten run came to a bumpy end.
