COLCHESTER United claimed a point after drawing 1-1 at bottom club Sutton United, on Saturday afternoon.

Cameron McGeehan gave the U's a seventh-minute lead but that was cancelled out by Charlie Lakin's goal 11 minutes later.

Owen Goodman made an 80th-minute penalty save from Harry Smith, as the U's claimed a draw.

Colchester fans have their say on their team's fifth draw in their last seven games.

Disappointed with a draw today after such a bright and promising start. Got the early goal and could and should have been 3 up but we didn’t continue. I felt after the goal we were very flat and credit to Goodman, who has come under fire for errors of late, earned us the point.

When you play with strikers who work hard, but don't score, and the new centre back had given away 2 pens and scored an own goal last week. What can you expect?!

Si Collinson

Another point, but with FGR winning it was 2 dropped again. We are guilty of individual errors over the pitch and questionable decision making. We did play some good football, but as always made it hard for ourselves. Good save from Goodman from the penalty to spare our blushes.

Absolutely NEED a striker. Officiating the worst I’ve ever seen and Ben Speedie should be ashamed of himself. Decent defending considering the aerial assault Sutton peppered us with, but ultimately another terrible defensive error to gift them an equaliser.

Ihionvien can’t score less than Akinde and Hopper. Just saying!

Having doubts after the managerial appointment. The players are prone to mistakes every week and it feels like this is the season we’ll be down.

Not gonna lie. I'm scared! Only 5 points from safety. Tuesday goes against us and that gap gets even smaller. Still vital save by Owen and good to see Ready and Manny back but we really need to start picking up some wins because the gap between us and relegation makes me nervous

Poor teams, poor pitch but a point gained. Would have lost a couple of months ago.

Colucol

A point gained but we were bullied by their players 2nd half & it looked like they wanted it more. No help from the officials who were awful. How many times was Read fouled & nothing given.

Relegation scrap is still fully on. Individual mistakes all over the pitch throughout. It is clear how desperate we are for Tovide to return because none of the strikers offered anything whatsoever. Set Pieces need serious work too, every cross went straight into the keepers arms

Got the early goal & then deja vu struck with a terrible goal conceded. Our crossing & set pieces are awful, & we seem to carry very little goal threat. Goodman saved the point but it feels like an opportunity lost. We really need to start winning games as draws aren't enough

Very disappointed in a poor performance good goal but can’t defend DW Disappointed after such a bright start but a point gained. Both teams were awful.

Still playing far better than before Cowleys arrived but still a few players short in certain positions and just need to keep grinding out these odd points to stay up so they can hopefully recruit for next season. Confidence still lacking and a couple of wins might remedy.

David Clayton

Poor performance but a better result for us than them. Tough pitch to play on but had no control in the 2nd half. Set pieces & final ball were shocking. Huge save from Goodman. Cowley’s have got a real job on to reset the mentality & make us a front foot team.

Officials robbed us, Goodman saved us

Michael O'Brien

Well done Goodman. Unfortunately draws won’t keep us up if either FGR or Sutton go on a run. Failure to sign a striker last month looking increasingly negligent.
