FRANK Nouble linked up again with his former Colchester United boss John McGreal today after training with Ipswich Town under-21s.

The 31-year-old forward, who is currently on the lookout for a a club after the culmination of his short-term contract at National League side Torquay United, returned to his old club Town to train.

Nouble scored five goals in 60 league and cup appearances for Ipswich between 2013 and 2015.

He posted a video on social media this morning, thanking his ex-U's head coach McGreal along with Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna for allowing him to train with Town's under-21s, as he looks for his next challenge.

Nouble said: “I trained with the U21s and my old gaffer John McGreal.

“I asked if I could train with them and he said he’d ask the first-team manager and the club and they all said it was fine.

“I just want to say thank you very much, an absolute pleasure to train there, the standard was great from the young boys, the U21s.

“I want to say thank you again to John McGreal and also the first team manager, [Kieran] McKenna, for allowing me to train and get fit until I find a new club.

"Absolutely amazing experience and hopefully I can do some more sessions with them.

“Thanks again Ipswich, and I can just walk home, a two-minute walk. Love it!”

Nouble left Colchester by mutual consent in March having made more than 150 appearances, during his different spells for the club.

He first joined Colchester in the summer of 2018, after leaving their League Two rivals Newport County.

Nouble was an integral part of McGreal’s side, as the U’s finished eighth and sixth before losing to Exeter City in the League Two play-off semi-finals.

He left Colchester to sign for Plymouth Argyle in the summer of 2020, but returned to the U’s on loan in the January 2021 transfer window.

The former West Ham United youngster’s move to Colchester became permanent in the summer of 2021 and he went on to add 50 further appearances for the club.

However, after playing regularly under Wayne Brown in the opening months of last season, Nouble found himself out of favour under Matt Bloomfield and left the U's in March.
