COLCHESTER United registered a 1-0 victory over Port Vale, on Saturday afternoon.

Tom Dallison's headed goal late in the game sealed the U's a precious win, in the battle to beat the drop from League Two.

Colchester fans have their say on a big victory for Wayne Brown's side.

Both teams weren't playing great, giving the ball away, not really having to defend to much but at the same time stopping each other from creating something it felt that either side could have nicked it but thankfully it was the U's who did it!

Si Collinson

Was typical that we win the hardest of the four home games. An improved performance, but why can’t we play two up top? It would make Sears' job so much easier.

Duncan Stonehouse

I mean, let’s take the positive, we won the game. But it wasn’t great, no real tactics other than hitting hopeful long balls. Having said that, I want my team to win and we did so it’s nice to not be in a bad mood after a game for once!

3 points is all that matters here but another bad performance, we always seem better with 2 up top, another huge game Saturday, need to see Akinde and Sears start together

Col

Not the greatest of performance but who cares we won that’s the main thing

Steve Lowe

Hard fought win port vale unbeaten in 9 games before today. Massive 3 points need to push on now but how many times have we said that after a win.

Freddie Emerson

We were not great at all but every player fought their hardest that’s all u can ask. Coxe with yet another class performance but I really question some substitutions. Big 3pts non the less

Tony C

Scrappy game from both teams apart from @shamalgeorge world class save and @TomDallison6 great goal, but a big 3 points, that’s what we need. Hopefully gives us some confidence and we can start moving towards safety.

Please keep Dallison in the team and play Akinde up top with Freddie and we may, just may be ok. Regardless, please please Mr Cowling don’t give Wayne Brown the job and allow an experienced manager to manage or we will be in the same position in 12 months time.

David Clayton

Not great on the ball, but goes to show how important an organised defence is. Dallison superb, he should be captain next season. Wiredu showed why he HAS to start whenever he's fit. What a save from George; incredible.

George’s save minutes after going ahead was the key. Still wrong selection at CB, Eastman needs to be in. Two up top? Come on Sears needs help.

David Fincham

Team looked nervous going forward but compact at the back in first half. This team is so much better when they spread the play with quick passing, using the channels and pace in the team as we did second half. Overall deserved the 3 points today!

Liam

We need to forget about pretty and entertaining football at this stage, it’s about grinding out results and that’s what we did today! A worldy from @shamalgeorge ensured we came away with all 3pts

Important that we didn't lose but instead a great win from an average performance. Tactically a lot better as every player put in a good shift today. George save was top class & from where I was sitting I thought it was a certain goal.

Michael

Didn’t play well, but at this stage of the season, when 3 points are a must and in our current position I’ll take them anyway they come, hopefully the team can build on this and go on a mini run and push us a little closer to safety

Danny

You definitely can’t knock the commitment or desire today, lacked quality going forward, back 4 played well with good organisation keeper pulled off a couple of class saves. We take the points and move on to a massive game next week.

Not a good performance but very happy to come away with 3 points as anything but wouldve been unacceptable. We need to play akinde and sears up front and Hannant should not be starting as he’s not been good at all all season. We need a permanent manager, not Wayne brown

Anthony Clachan

Didn't play well but it doesn't matter a win is a win that's all that matters must now carry this on to Scunthorpe away next weekend where that could be another potential decider but for now it's all about today up the U's

Wayno

Crack a beer have a good weekend! Up the u’ssssss

Michael O'Brien

Points more important than performance.

Invisible

Dreadful game, dreadful tactics again but we defended quite well in fairness the best thing was the 3 points obviously.

Could be absolutely crucial in the games to come as was a huge win due to the lack of wins from the teams around us. I wish I could say the team played great but wasn't the worst. Still room for a lot of improvement and changes.

Jake Furby

Those 3 points are vital for our season. Shamal George was my MOTM. If it weren’t for him it would’ve been a different story. Chambers and dallison are our best defensive duo. They look solid together. Bring on scunthorpe. Up the U’s

Glennyboy

Awful game based on not conceding. A draw would have been fair, but The U's took the one chance they had and George made an incredible save to gain 3 precious points.

Murrkin

Three points better off than this morning, that’s all. Same awful owner.

Ben Harrison

Scrappy game wouldn't say we played well but at this time of the season it's all about hanging in there and taking chances and thankfully we did and got the job done magnificently save by George at the end, big big win same again next week please
