COLCHESTER United's under-18s claimed a 3-2 win at Cardiff City in their latest Professional Development League Two clash, writes BRIAN WALLER.

It proved to be lucky 13 for the U’s, as they had failed to beat Cardiff in their previous 12 meetings.

Liam Bailey's (pictured below) side got off to a flying start at the CDF Sports Campus.

They scored twice in a minute inside the opening 15 minutes, thanks to goals from Jaiden Drakes-Thomas and Bradley Ihionvien.

However just after the half hour mark, Cardiff got back in the match through Isaac Jefferies.

And Jefferies completed the Bluebirds' recovery when he netted soon after the interval to draw his side level at 2-2.

But the U’s long trip to South Wales was then rewarded as Freddie Price won and converted a late penalty with nine minutes remaining, to seal the visitors' win.
