HANDS in the air U’s fans if you are desperate for something positive to happen on the football pitch, tomorrow afternoon.

At the moment, just a goal would be a blessing and it might just help us win again.

I really cannot fathom how our wheels have come off after the win at Barrow.

Some say that the draw at Swindon was a good point. Yes we fought well for the point, but in my view if Swindon were a half decent side then they would have taken it.

Tranmere were a pretty decent side. Again we worked hard, with Shamal doing his usual excellent mop up work, and but for a wicked deflection and a dominant header, we would have come away with the goalless draw that was probably our plan B.

I say goalless, because the chances of the U’s scoring seems to be coming less and less and it is now certainly more than worrying, not helped by our former youth team forward banging in goals with ease not far away up the A12. A huge regret from the past that the club will have to live with.

Something major has to change with the U’s for the rest of October because we have four home games to play, with next Tuesday night also in our diaries.

It would be criminal waste not to win the majority of them, so how are we going to score the goals to make sure that happens?

Do we look to try Nouble on either flank in the hope that he can look to dominate a full-back, instead of working up against a couple of centre-halves?

Perhaps playing three at the back, assuming that Tommy Smith is OK, would be more suited to our full-backs?

I would dearly love to see us play two up front, and I mean really up front, not one behind the other, so that the opposition defence have more to think about.

At times, I do think that the U’s have become too predictable for the opposing coaches to work out. If so, then we need to be unpredictable and sow some seeds of doubt in their minds.

The build up to home games is getting tougher and tougher.

As fans, we should be creating our own confidence in the days leading up to it, and be looking forward to a good performance which culminates in three points.

But the U’s are dabbling with a rut again which they need to get out very quickly, because we all know what can happen if this continues.

It’s tough supporting a team when things are not easy, especially when there was such positivity before the season had started, taking last season into account.

Let’s please stick with it and try to help the players get through this.

You may have read that there was an incident after the game at Tranmere.

Firstly, I am very pleased that no one was hurt and I would like to praise those on board our coach for their calmness.

It has been many seasons since our coach has been threatened in such a way, but this follows similarly barely teen lads being thwarted by the police at Oldham a few weeks ago, ironically after a Tranmere coach had a window broken the week before.

We have made representations to Tranmere about where they parked us, and will continue to do all we can to ensure the safety of those travelling us for the rest of the season.

Now you may think that the U’s ticketing system could be a bit easier, but rest assured that most of the other teams are worse.

I have had to sign up as a member to buy their tickets online on several games.

It is a long process, but there was a positive note this week as I was invited to the Barrow FC Christmas party!

I might have to give it a miss due to the probable taxi fare getting home, but I will definitely have to refuse any Tranmere festive invite for obvious reasons!

Good luck tomorrow and Tuesday U’s, and thanks to you all for your support.
