FORMER Colchester United striker Jevani Brown has a new club.

The 26-year-old has joined Exeter City, after being one of a host of players to leave the U's, last month.

Brown, who made 62 league and cup appearances during his time with the U’s and finished as their second highest scorer last season behind Callum Harriott, could now face his old club in League Two, next season.

Colchester are due to face Exeter on November 23, at the JobServe Community Stadium.

Exeter boss Matt Taylor told the club's website: "We're really pleased to sign Jevani.

"He is a player we'd admired from afar and someone who has found form and a position and got a goals return as part of that at the start of last season.

"He is a player with a different dynamic to what we've had at the top of the pitch previously. He's got pace, power and wants to stretch defenders. He can really affect the back line in different ways.

"He is someone we are looking to build a team around in terms of creating chances."

Brown joined Colchester from Cambridge United in July 2019 and started their first six league and cup matches.

But he began to find himself out of favour under John McGreal, leading to him leaving to join Forest Green Rovers on loan in the January transfer window.

Brown enjoyed a resurgence at the start of this season under Steve Ball, who played him as a number nine.

It resulted in him scoring 11 goals in his first 16 league and cup matches for the U’s in the 2020-21 campaign, a spell which included two hat-tricks and a League Two Player of the Month award for December.

But the goals dried up after that and Brown found himself on the bench for much of the last few months of the season.
