COLCHESTER United are mourning the loss of their goalscoring legend Martyn King.
The U's all-time top goalscorer died on Christmas Day, at the age of 82.
King, who played 227 times for the U's, averaged over a goal every other game for the club between 1956 and 1964.
The Birmingham-born striker scored an incredible 139 goals during his eight-year stay at Layer Road, during which he struck up a lethal partnership with fellow prolific striker Bobby Hunt.
King, who was inducted into the U's Hall of Fame in 2008, finished a season as Colchester's leading goalscorer on three occasions.
He left the U's in 1964 to join Wrexham but remains one of the club's greatest-ever players.
Colchester United today tweeted: @ColU_Official are saddened to hear the news that Martyn King has passed away. Martyn averaged over a goal every other game for the U's, and is still the all-time top scorer for the club. All our thoughts are with his family and friends.#ColU
