Colchester United have added promising young Brighton and Hove Albion centre-back Matthew Weaire to their academy ranks.
The 17-year-old will initially link up with the U's academy squad, after joining them from the Premier League club on a two-year deal.
Weaire, who turns 18 next month, spent time on loan at Evo-Stik South League Premier Division South side Gosport Borough, last season.
He started life at Chelsea before joining Brighton, where he has spent six years and played regularly for their under-18 and under-23 sides.
Weaire played for Denmark's under-19s when was 16, qualifying for Denmark through his mother.
