FORMER Colchester United defender Ben Coker has been released by National League South side Ebbsfleet United.

The 36-year-old left-back is one of six players not been offered renewed playing terms on the expiry of their contracts, after the Kent club announced their retained and released list.

Coker has spent the past season at Ebbsfleet after joining them from Barnet, last summer.

He linked up with Colchester from non-league outfit Bury Town in the summer of 2008.

Coker made nearly 50 appearances for the U's, scoring once, before his release in February 2013, after having his contract cancelled.

He has more than 400 senior appearances in his career and spent six years at Southend United, helping them win promotion to League One in 2015.

Coker had spells at Stevenage and Solihull Moors before joining Barnet in 2023, where he made 65 appearances across two seasons before joining Ebbsfleet.

Fellow former Colchester players Kwesi Appiah, George Moncur, Gene Kennedy and Ronny Nelson remain under contract at Ebbsfleet, while ex-U’s duo Tom Dallison and Dominic Samuel have been offered new deals.
