COLCHESTER United host their End of Season awards tonight.
The U's will celebrate an enjoyable campaign, where they have challenged for a League Two play-off spot and been a force a the right end of the table, after four successive seasons of struggle.
Ahead of tonight's event at the JobServe Community Stadium, we asked Gazette readers to vote for their Colchester United player of the season and young player of the season.
And you voted Jack Payne as a clear winner of our player of the season prize.
The 30-year-old, who was named in the Sky Bet League Two Team of the Season at the weekend, scooped 38 per cent of the vote to take the accolade.
Payne has been a consistently impressive performer for Danny Cowley's side throughout the 2024-25 campaign.
He has eight goals and ten assists to his name in League Two, having made 41 league appearances for the U's after joining them on a two-year deal from divisional rivals MK Dons, last summer.
Runner-up in our vote was U's top scorer Lyle Taylor, with 17 per cent.
He was closely followed by left-back Ellis Iandolo who scooped 15 per cent of your votes with midfielder Jamie McDonnell fourth (13 per cent).
McDonnell was clear winner in your vote for Colchester's young player of the season.
The on-loan Nottingham Forest loanee claimed a massive 70 per cent of the vote, with Oscar Thorn runner-up (12 per cent) and Aaron Donnelly and Samson Tovide sharing third place (eight per cent).
It's been a superb season for McDonnell, 21, who has made such a positive impact since arriving from Forest, last summer.
The combative midfielder has made 37 league and cup appearances for Danny Cowley's side, in the 2024-25 campaign.
