COLCHESTER’S Mayor visited an educational business camp for children to present certificates to children with business pitches ranging from cookie burgers to AI teddies.

Lesley Scott-Boutell visited a ‘Big Dreams' summer camp at BusinessKids, an educational company based in Colchester which is run by managing director Lyndee Oscar.

Ms Scott-Boutell presented certificates and congratulated children on their innovation, confident manners, and for how they expressed their business pitches.

The children’s business ideas stemmed from explorations in camp on topics such as system thinking, emotional shielding, marketing, and financial awareness.

The newly created Businesses ranged from ‘Cookies Burgers’ by Charley and Beatrice to ‘Sweet Race’ raceable cars, which are made out of sweets, by Sebastian and Taf.

While recent graduates – ‘Little Creators’ Kayla and Yilum - launched their new business linked to their musical talents, which was an idea about AI talking teddies.

The showcase took place at the GO4 Cafe on the Rec and children were also interviewed by Ben Fryer from BBC Essex.

Lyndee Oscar said: “I’m immensely proud of their innovation, every camp just surprises me how creative they are with.

“They have the great ideas in their head, and we really just needed to get them out a little.”
