NATIONAL League side Barnet have snapped up two former Colchester United players.

The Bees have signed ex-U's left-back Myles Kenlock, who has joined the club on a three-year contract.

Kenlock, 27, had previously been at Barnet's National League rivals Ebbsfleet, in addition to a brief spell at Aldershot Town in the 2022/23 campaign.

Kenlock told the Barnet website: “The ambition for the upcoming season is playing as many minutes as possible and helping the team to promotion.

"The style of play under the gaffer is exciting.

"It really plays to my strengths and it will be a pleasure to add whatever quality I have to the team.”

Kenlock joined Colchester on loan in January 2022 and made 20 appearances for the club under Wayne Brown, scoring three times.

He scored on his debut for the U's, a 3-0 win at Salford City, in Brown's first game in interim charge.

Prior to that, Kenlock made 103 appearances for Ipswich, after joining them as a trainee.

The defender made his debut for Town back in August 2015, helping them to a 2-1 win over Stevenage in the Capital One Cup.

Barnet FC manager Dean Brennan told the club's website: “Myles is a player we have tracked for the last 12 months.

"He has an excellent football brain, can defend 1v1 whilst also having the athleticism to take his opponent the other way.

"Myles is a great age and a player that I know will upgrade our squad.”

Barnet have also signed former Colchester midfielder, Billy Clifford.

The 31-year-old will join the Bees on a two-year contract, having spent the previous two seasons at fellow National League side Ebbsfleet.

Clifford told the Barnet website: “I’m delighted to have signed. Really looking forward to meeting the lads and getting started.”

Clifford spent time on loan at Colchester in the 2012-13 season, after being signed by Joe Dunne.

He made 18 appearances for the U's in that spell, scoring once.

The former Chelsea youngster has also played for the likes of Crawley Town and Walsall.

Barnet manager Brennan told the club's website: “We have been monitoring Bill for the past six months and the fact that I have worked with him before and trust his personality and ability, I feel he is a great fit for our squad.

"Bill is one of the bravest players I have ever worked with.

"He is prepared to receive the ball in all scenarios and he knows what I expect from him. I’m delighted he chose to join us.”
