SHOPPERS have once again complained about a foul smell at a busy supermarket in Colchester.
A concerned customer spoke of the unpleasant smell after a visit to the Tesco store in Greenstead Road this morning.
Speaking to The Gazette, they said: "I noticed the smell as soon as I walked in the main entrance.
"You could smell it around the fruit and vegetables area and tills.
"Other shoppers were remarking how bad the smell was."
Another shopper said it "smelt like rotten eggs".
Addressing the issue, Tesco said its colleagues responded quickly to concerns this morning, with the issue having since been resolved and no further reports of a smell being made.
The store has also remained fully open and operational all day.
It is not the first time a foul smell has been reported at the site, with one disgruntled shopper saying it “smells like poo” around the same time last year.
They claimed the heating had been turned off in the store to combat the stench.
This left staff with no option but “wear scarves and gloves” to keep warm amid the unpredictable weather.
An issue with a drain at the store was also reported in April last year, but the retailer removed the offensive odour.
