COLCHESTER United currently have a host of players out on loan.

The Gazette looks at how they fared, over the weekend's action.

CHAY COOPER

Attacking midfielder Cooper was on the wrong end of a home defeat for Hartlepool United, after they were beaten 2-1 by Barnet.

The former Spurs youngster started for Pools for the first time since joining them on loan from Colchester in their latest National League match against the Bees.

He played 72 minutes before being replaced by ex-U’s winger, Brennan Dickenson.

Cooper was unfortunate not to score just before the hour against Barnet when his low strike from the edge of the area was well saved by the keeper.

Hartlepool’s defeat leaves them tenth in the National League, ten points off the play-off places.

GENE KENNEDY

Colchester United academy product Kennedy came on as a 66th-minute substitute for Welling United in their 2-2 draw with Braintree Town, at the weekend.

The 20-year-old midfielder who linked up with the National League South side last month, is playing under former Braintree Town boss Rod Stringer at the J Hearnden Skip Hire Community Stadium, along with ex-Colchester United favourite Kevin Watson, who is assistant manager at Welling.

Kennedy, who has also spent time on loan at Braintree Town, replaced Reece Grant as Welling claimed a point in their quest to stay in National League South.

FRANKIE TERRY

Terry took part in an eventful National League South derby at his former club Chelmsford City.

The Millers finished with nine men after having two players sent off, in their 2-0 defeat.

Former Colchester defender Cameron James scored one of the goals for Chelmsford, who ended the game with only ten players.

Aveley are back in action tonight when they welcome leaders Yeovil Town to Parkside.

AL-AMIN KAZEEM

Left-back Kazeem came off the bench in the 70th minute to help Galway come from behind to beat Waterford 2-1 and record their first home win of the year.

Galway have a huge away game in Dublin tonight, against Shelbourne.

Kazeem, who joined Galway on loan on February 8, will be at the League of Ireland side until the end of the season.

Gazette:

RONNY NELSON

Centre-back Nelson did not feature for troubled Torquay United in their 1-1 draw at Weymouth, in National League South.

The former Leicester City defender joined the Gulls on a month’s loan, last month.

Nelson made his full debut for Colchester earlier this season when he featured in their home defeat to Spurs under-21s in their Bristol Street Motors Trophy group game, last September.

HARRY BEADLE

Young U’s defender Beadle made his 50th appearance for Bishop’s Stortford in their National League North game at Warrington Town.

Beadle started for the Blues and played the full 90 minutes in their 2-1 defeat, played out in front of a crowd of more than 1,000.

Beadle has recently been joined at Stortford by former Colchester United defender Lordon Akolbire.

HAKEEM SANDAH

Young forward Sandah joined Maldon and Tiptree last week and made his debut for them in their 1-0 defeat at Wroxham FC, in Pitching In Isthmian League division one.

Sandah has signed for the Jammers on loan, until the end of the season.

Sandah, who was at Spurs academy, has been featuring for Colchester's under-21s over recent weeks, after joining them in January, following a successful trial period.
