COLCHESTER United are hopeful that Harry Anderson will be available to face Sutton United this weekend after he sat out their home draw with Accrington Stanley.

The on-loan Stevenage winger was forced to miss the U’s 1-1 draw at the JobServe Community Stadium after suffering an Abductor Longus strain in a training session, held after their game with Grimsby Town was postponed last week, due to a waterlogged pitch.

Anderson has made a positive impact for Colchester since joining them last month, making three appearances and scoring once.

Colchester head coach Danny Cowley said: “Hopefully, it’s only low level and he’ll be back for Saturday.

“It happened in training on Tuesday, which was so frustrating because it would have been easy to have sent the players home after the game was called off.

“But we always try to do the right thing and it was absolutely the right thing to train.

Meanwhile, Colchester have received a boost on the injury front after learning that defender Will Greenidge’s groin injury is not as bad as first feared.

The former West Ham United youngster has not featured for the U’s since December and underwent an MRI scan on the injury, which revealed a grade 2b Abductor Longus tear.

Meanwhile, Colchester are hopeful that Mandela Egbo is not far away from moving into full training following his knee injury.

Egbo has been sidelined since suffering the injury at MK Dons on Boxing Day but has already returned to grass-based training and is making swift progress.
