HARRY Anderson believes he played the best football of his career so far under the Cowleys.

And the winger is now aiming to reproduce that impressive form for Colchester United, after joining them on loan from Stevenage until the end of the season.

Anderson flourished at Lincoln City playing under Danny and Nicky Cowley, helping them win promotion from both the League Two and the National League, along with the EFL Trophy.

The 27-year-old has now been reunited with the brothers at the U's and is looking forward to playing under them again, between now and the end of the season.

Anderson said: “It’s nice to be wanted which is always good and obviously having worked with them before, they knew what I was about and I knew what they were like.

"There's nothing too new that I need to pick up.

"There's some of the old bits and some of the new bits they've added and I really enjoy working under them.

"It's pretty intense with lots of detail but I enjoy it.

"I've always enjoyed playing high tempo, that sort of fits my build.

Gazette:

"I like pressing from the front and trying to win the ball back and it suits me down to the ground.

“I had most of my success at Lincoln and it’s probably been my best time so far.

“Their attention to detail is massive – they spend every minute of every day looking into the opposition, finding ways to try and cause them trouble.

“It’s just the detail they give you which helps on a matchday."

Anderson is ready to play his part in helping Colchester climb away from relegation danger and up the League Two table.

The former Bristol Rovers winger joined the U’s last week and made his debut as a substitute in his new side’s 1-0 win at Morecambe last weekend.

Anderson suffered a frustrating first half of the season at Stevenage due to injuries, which restricted him to just three appearances for Steve Evans’ side.

However, he is now fully fit and focused on playing games for U’s.

Anderson said: “I definitely feel ready now - I’m chomping at the bit to get out there.

“It was nice to be back out there and get 20 minutes at the weekend. I was just happy to get out on the pitch.

Gazette:

“It’s been quite difficult for me having a long-term injury but I’ve managed to hopefully come through that now and kick on.

“It’s really hard having an injury and frustrating not being able to train or go out there with the lads.

“It’s something that happens in football and once you get your head around it and put the work in at the gym and keep doing the right things, hopefully it’ll pay off and you can get back out there.

“Stevenage are doing really well at the moment, so it’s not easy trying to get into a team that’s doing so well.

“Having been out for such a long time, it makes it even more difficult. I’ve been training now since November and got some good data under my belt and hopefully now, I can get some game time.

“I want to get as many minutes as I can and try and get as many goals as possible, going into the summer.”

Anderson will hope to help Colchester claim back-to-back wins by beating bottom side Forest Green Rovers tomorrow.

He said:  “We’ve got a really good bunch of lads and they seem to be turning things around.

"We’re doing the right things so hopefully, we can start moving up the table.”
