AFC Wimbledon boss Johnnie Jackson has revealed a half-time adjustment paved the way for his side's 5-3 win over his former club Colchester United.

The Dons were level at 2-2 with the U's at the break at Plough Lane, following a breathless first half.

But Wimbledon were much the better side in the second half and showed why they are in play-off contention in League Two by hitting three goals after the break, to claim victory.

Jackson, who played 123 times for the U's during two spells for the club, was pleased with his team's improved display, after the break.

He said: "We changed the way we pressed (at half-time).

"We just felt they were getting a little bit of joy with how they were building.

"Arthur Read tried to get on the ball so we sort of said to Omar (Bugiel) to try and stop him doing that but then (Cam) McGeehan was dropping in and they were having the extra man in their build-up.

"It caused us a little issue in the first half so we just adjusted the way we pressed at half-time and I thought they made a real difference.

"The way the boys executed it was brilliant.

"We kept winning it back in dangerous areas and breaking on them, so it obviously worked.

"At one stage, probably half an hour in, I was thinking I might have to give them a bit of a rocket because I thought Colchester had control in the middle part in the first half, I think that's fair to say although both teams kept getting chances.

"It was a bit cat and mouse; we were a bit open in transition but kept getting in and I thought for the last ten to 15 minutes of the first half, we had a bit more control.

"That probably changed my words and my language a little bit but we made a couple of adjustments on how we pressed in the second half and I think that changed our thinking.

"I thought we were completely dominant in the second half and we should have had more goals; the game should have been put to bed long before it was.

"We scored five goals and we got three points - I was pleased with the performance."
