COLCHESTER United have recalled goalkeeper Sam Hornby from his loan spell at Solihull Moors.

Hornby, who joined the National League side last month, has been back at the U's this week.

He watched Colchester's 2-1 defeat to Crawley Town last weekend, after featuring in Solihull’s 2-0 FA Trophy win against Scunthorpe United on Friday evening.

Hornby made four outings for the promotion-chasing side, who are currently fourth in the National League table.

The former Bradford City keeper's loan deal at Solihull was originally supposed to last until January, but he has been recalled sooner than planned ahead of a busy period for Colchester.

Hornby will now battle it out with fellow goalkeepers Owen Goodman and Tom Smith for a place in the U's starting line-up.
