AN Indian restaurant named the best in the country has thanked its customers as it dedicated its award to the community it serves.

Rim Jhim Spice claimed the title in the best restaurant category at this year's Curry Life Awards.

The awards, which took place at a ceremony in London’s West End, celebrate the elite in the UK's multi-billion-pound curry industry.

The restaurant in Villa Road, Stanway, Colchester, is a firm favourite among residents and the team has dedicated the prestigious accolade to the people of Stanway.

In a post on Facebook, owner Farhana Khan wrote: "We would like to thank the residents' group for your support and kind messages. The award is for Stanway."

Several well-wishers also took to social media to congratulate Farhana's team on their success.

"Your restaurant is our comfort zone and go-to place whether it's for a special occasion or a sporadic date night," one loyal customer wrote.

Stanway councillor Lesley Scott-Boutell has also visited the restaurant to celebrate with the award-winning team.

Witham MP Dame Priti Patel has also congratulated the popular restaurant.
