COLCHESTER United midfielder Alex Newby has joined National League side Altrincham on loan until January.
The 27-year-old has departed the JobServe Community Stadium this afternoon, having found his first-team opportunities limited this season under Ben Garner.
Newby, who played in Colchester's 5-0 defeat to Spurs under-21s in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday night, has made three appearances for the club this season.

But the former Rochdale midfielder has been left out of the U's matchday 18 in each of their last two League Two games and was taken off in the first half of their 1-0 defeat at Walsall, earlier this month.

That was Newby's only league start, in the current campaign.
Newby joined Colchester from Rochdale on a two-year deal, in the summer of 2022.
The former Barrow youngster has made 34 league appearances in total for the U's, scoring three times but half of those have been as a substitute.
Newby has made 39 times for Colchester, in total.
