COLCHESTER United have signed Crystal Palace young goalkeeper Owen Goodman on loan for the 2023-24 season.

The 19-year-old shot-stopper is joining the U's from the Premier League club.

 

He is Colchester's third summer signing, following Ellis Iandolo and Nico Lawrence in linking up with the club for the new League Two campaign.

Goodman is yet to make his first-team debut for Palace but is highly rated by the South London club.

 

The 6'4' goalkeeper has been an unused substitute for them on a number of occasions.

Goodman was on the bench for games against Arsenal, Brighton and Hove Albion and Southampton, in the 2022-23 season.

 

The Canada-raised goalkeeper, who was born in Essex, signed a professional contract with the Eagles when he was 17 years old.

The England under-20 international clocked up 20 appearances for Palace in Premier League 2, last season.

Goodman will compete with Sam Hornby and youngster Ted Collins to be Colchester's number one, in the League Two season.
