COLCHESTER United could swoop for Hibernian striker Harry McKirdy.
The 26-year-old striker played under U's head coach Ben Garner at Swindon Town, scoring 22 goals in 37 league starts as they reached the League Two play-offs in the 2021-22 season.
And now reports suggest Colchester could make a move to reunite McKirdy with his former boss Garner at the JobServe Community Stadium.
McKirdy's goalscoring exploits in that campaign with Swindon led to him being named in the EFL League Two Team of the Season, along with scooping the Robins' Player of the Season award.
McKirdy left Swindon to join Scottish Premiership club Hibs on a three-year contract last September, for an undisclosed fee.
But the former Aston Villa youngster only made five league starts for the Edinburgh club in his first year there, with 17 further appearances coming off the bench.

Colchester are looking to bolster their attacking options ahead of the new season, with the departure of the likes of Freddie Sears, Frank Nouble and Luke Hannant leaving them in need of reinforcements in that area.
McKirdy. who has two years remaining on his current deal at Hibs, is a versatile forward who can play centrally or in a wider position for the team.

And with Garner having got the best out of the attacker in their League Two season together at Swindon, a move to the U's this summer could prove good for all parties.
