COLCHESTER United are hoping to add another new signing before they depart for their summer training camp in Spain.

The U's completed the capture of Ellis Iandolo on Friday, on a two-year deal from League Two rivals, Swindon Town.

Colchester are aiming to further bolster their squad in the coming weeks, as they build up to the new campaign starting on August 5.

The U's want to bolster a number of positions and head coach Ben Garner has revealed they would ideally like to get another deal completed before they jet off to Spain tomorrow.

Garner said: "We're working hard.

"I'm quite hopeful of getting one more in before we go on Monday - that'll be good to do.

"Then we've got one or two others that are bubbling away, behind the scenes and we're working hard on.

"We had clear targets with people we wanted to bring in and we're working really hard to do that.

"That's all we can do; we'll keep pushing and try and get the best deals possible, for the football club and get the best players in who we feel will give us the best chance of success."

Colchester are building up to the new League Two season, which starts with a home clash with Swindon Town on August 5.

They play their first friendly of the summer on July 8 when they make the short trip to play Pitching In Isthmian League division north outfit Maldon and Tiptree, managed by former England caretaker boss, Peter Taylor.

Colchester follow that up with friendlies against Ebbsfleet United, Peterborough United, Leyton Orient and West Ham United under-21s with another friendly on the cards.
