THE League Two line-up for the 2023-24 season has been confirmed with the bookmakers already giving their verdict on who will be striving for promotion and battling against relegation.

And their early predictions will no doubt give Colchester United plenty of incentive to prove them wrong.

Sky Bet have installed Phil Parkinson’s Wrexham as favourites to win the title at 7/2, following their promotion as National League champions.

Gazette:

Next at 6/1 come Stockport County, who missed out on promotion to League One in agonising fashion last weekend after losing on penalties to Carlisle United in the League Two play-off final, at Wembley.

Notts County, who won promotion from the National League after beating Chesterfield in the play-off final, are next in line for the title according to Sky Bet at 8/1, followed by Gillingham at 10/1.

Bradford City, who lost out to Carlisle United in the play-off semi-finals are 12/1 while League Two newcomers MK Dons – who have just appointed Graham Alexander as their new manager – are viewed at 14/1.

Next come the other of this season’s beaten play-off semi-finalists Salford City, at 16/1.

After battling against relegation in the fourth tier this season, bookies are tipping the U’s to have another season of struggle.

At the other end of the spectrum, Sky Bet view Harrogate Town as the least likely side in the division to win the title, at 100/1.

They are followed by Crawley Town (80/1) and then Colchester United (66/1), and then Sutton United and Crewe Alexandra (both 50/1).

Colchester boss Ben Garner has been clear in outlining his targets for the U’s, next season.

He said: “We want to be up at the top of the division and pushing for promotion.

“That will be our aim from day one of next season.

“It looks like it’s going to be a really strong division, with the teams coming up and the teams that are coming down.

“We have to make sure that we’re on the ball over the summer.

Gazette: Ben Garner

“We’re working really hard in terms of our recruitment and our pre-season plans and when we come back, we hit the ground running.

“It’s got to be the mindset from day one of pre-season, to be up there challenging so that we when we come back in, we’re attacking the season and the league.

“We’re not going to fear anyone in this division.

“We’re going to take games to teams and play on the front foot, especially at home.”
