COLCHESTER United would have to receive a ‘very, very good offer’ if they are to part with any of their talented young players, this summer.

That is the view of U’s sporting director Dmitri Halajko, who insists the club would have to receive an offer that ‘can’t be turned down’ if they are to consider allowing any of their players to depart the JobServe Community Stadium.

Junior Tchamadeu is attracting interest from bigger clubs, having enjoyed an excellent season for Colchester which resulted in him being named Sky Bet League Two Young Player of the Season and in the league’s team of the season.

Noah Chilvers has enjoyed a strong finish to the season to add to his growing value, while the likes of Samson Tovide, Ossama Ashley and Marley Marshall Miranda have also impressed for the U’s.

Colchester are braced for interest from other clubs in their players but Halajko says both the club and the players are in a positive position, heading into the summer transfer window.

Halajko said: “We want to keep hold of all of them.

“We see them as a part of what we’re trying to achieve, next year.

“We want to improve next year and they’re a big part of that.

“We certainly see them as part of our plans next year, for sure.

“We’ve got them all under contract or with an option on their contract, so if they do depart the club for any reason, it will have to be on our terms.

“It will only be because we’ve had a very, very good offer through the door – that’s the only reason any of those players would leave.

“We’re in a good contract situation with them, they’re performing really well and they love being here.

“They’re under contract, so the only way that will change is if offers come through the door of a monetary value that can’t be turned down.

“But either way, it’s a position for the club that’s positive and for the young players, it’s positive.

“There’s only good outcomes that can come from those young players being around it.”
