FORMER Colchester United favourite Callum Harriott has signed for League Two strugglers Gillingham.

The 28-year-old, who made nearly 100 appearances during two spells at the JobServe Community Stadium, has agreed a short-term contract with the Gills.

Harriott has been without a club since leaving Colchester at the end of the 2020-21 season.

And the former Reading winger has now found a new club in Gillingham, who host the U's on Boxing Day.

Harriott told the Gillingham website: "I am hoping I can bring that magic in a game and help with goals and assists.

"I will always work hard; I am not too far away in terms of fitness.

"I've been training, I will build myself up so I can do what I need to do."

Harriott is eligible to make his Gillingham debut in their Emirates FA Cup second round tie against Dagenham and Redbridge, on Saturday.

The Guyana international will be looking to recapture the kind of form he produced in his Colchester days, at his new club.

Gillingham co-chairman Paul Fisher told the club's website: "I am absolutely delighted to welcome Callum to the Football Club, we look forward to getting him up to speed and seeing him in a Gills shirt sooner rather than later."
