MATT Bloomfield has one thing on his mind ahead of Colchester United's Papa Johns Trophy clash with Bristol Rovers tonight - victory.

The U's host Joey Barton's side in the last 32 of the competition at the JobServe Community Stadium tonight, aiming to make further progress in the competition (kick-off 7.30pm).

Colchester head into the game with confidence following their impressive 3-0 triumph over Doncaster Rovers, last weekend.

And boss Bloomfield has stressed how keen he is to secure a win over their League One opponents and build on last Saturday's success.

Bloomfield said: "We want to win.

"I want to win everything I do in my life.

"I want to win in this competition and we want to get a bit of momentum.

"We're back at home and we've enjoyed playing here, so far.

"We'll be looking to win the game and we want to get through."

Gazette:

Samson Tovide (pictured above) will be hoping to make a third successive start for Colchester tonight.

The 18-year-old striker bagged his first-ever senior goal for the U's against Doncaster, with a superb left-foot finish.

Tovide was out injured when Bloomfield was appointed as U's boss, at the end of September.

However, the teenage forward is now back and firing on all cylinders, much to Bloomfield's delight.

"Samson has come through here and he's one of those who was injured when I walked through the door," said Bloomfield.

"I'd heard so much about him and was really looking forward to seeing him play.

"We had him in training with us and I soon saw that we had a good lad on our hands.

Gazette:

"I brought him in the office, just to try and get to know him a little bit more and his background.

"He was really open and honest in that and it was lovely to get to know him personally, as well as professionally.

"He's a young lad and we want to try and keep the attention off him, because he's got to have his feet firmly on the floor.

"But the development coaches here have done a really good job with him and we're really excited to work with him, moving forward."
