A listed High Street shop has applied to repaint its shopfront to make it “more attractive”.

Edinburgh Woollen Mill has submitted a bid to Colchester Council for permission to carry out some repair works and repaint the building.

It would be painted slate grey, similar to its neighbouring shop White Stuff.

The planning application said: “The shop is facing the High Street and is in poor repair, by repairing and redecorating the shop this will revive the aesthetics of the ground floor and be more attractive to the surrounding area.”

The works will repair timber before paint is applied.

The application added: “The colour scheme will also be in-fitting with the building next door – White Stuff which is of a similar colour.”

Colchester Council will have the final say.
