PEOPLE with enthusiasm, commitment and a good sense of humour are wanted to take part in a production.

Alfie James is looking to create a story box community theatre project for people in the Kelvedon and Tiptree area.

Alfie is an award-winning West End writer, director and actor from Kelvedon.

He is hoping to get a group together of people aged 50 plus to take part in a ten-week project.

The aim is to build confidence and positive well-being in a fun and relaxed environment.

They will be working on creating a performance of Little Red Riding Hood using puppets.

The first project was formed in Epping Forest four years ago and have been held in London, Milton Keynes and Brentwood.

Each project focuses on developing a particular theatre skill and in this pilot project the focus is on exploring how puppets can be used to enhance storytelling.

The workshops continued throughout the Covid lockdown on zoom to create audio plays which were shared on YouTube and Facebook.

Alfie said: "We found that parents were using our plays to help home-school their children.

"We even received a message for the British Blind Association praising us for supporting children who were visually impaired.

“The best part of running the group is getting to work with some wonderful people and see them come alive and enjoy themselves.

“The key element of what makes the project a success is teamwork among the members and its links with the community.”

Alfie James Productions is a non-profit performance company who aim to produce regular performances, offer creative workshops, produce short films and develop research studies.

The project works with libraries, mental health organisations, the Royal British Legion, voluntary services and residential care homes.
