FORMER Colchester United loanee Jake Turner has thanked Newcastle United as he begins a new chapter in his career.

The 23-year-old goalkeeper says he 'can't wait for the new challenges and the new beginnings' after his three-year stint at the Premier League club came to an end.

Writing on social media, Turner said: "Another season is over.

"Thank you to Colchester for everything in the first half of the season, I enjoyed every moment of my time there.

"I also would like to thank Newcastle for the last 3 years, it's been filled with plenty of ups and downs.

"I've met some great people and am grateful for the opportunities I experienced on both my loans while being here.

"Time for the next chapter in my career wherever that may be, I can't wait for the new challenges and the new beginnings."

Turner has made 14 league and cup appearances for Colchester this season following his loan move from Newcastle, last summer.

The 23-year-old goalkeeper got his opportunity following Shamal George's rib injury against Stevenage, last November.

Turner returned to Newcastle following the completion of his loan spell at Colchester, in January.

The former Morecambe shot-stopper did not play a senior competitive game for Newcastle after signing for them from Bolton Wanderers in the summer of 2019.
