COLCHESTER United registered a 3-1 win at Scunthorpe United, on Saturday afternoon.
A fine brace from Noah Chilvers and a strike from Owura Edwards sealed Wayne Brown's side victory at Glanford Park, after they had fallen behind to Joe Nuttall's opener.
Scunthorpe had played for an hour with ten men, after full-back Luke Matheson had been red carded ten minutes before half-time.
Here are the Gazette player ratings, following an important away win for the U's.
SHAMAL GEORGE 7
U's keeper had few meaningful shots to save and had little chance with Nuttall's tap-in
CAMERON COXE 7
Unfortunate not to be awarded a penalty early on and played his part in the U's win
LUKE CHAMBERS 7
Experienced defender put in a solid performance and was dominant in the air
TOMMY SMITH 7
U's skipper led by example; was a competent performer at the heart of the U's defence
MYLES KENLOCK 6
Will probably be disappointed by the nature of Scunthorpe's goal before being withdrawn early in the second half
COLE SKUSE 7
Put in another typically unruffled display in central midfield on his return to the team
BRENDAN WIREDU 8
Was unlucky not to score on at least two occasions and helped drive the team on from midfield
NOAH CHILVERS 10
U's man of the match. An outstanding all-round display playing in different positions capped with two excellent goals
LUKE HANNANT 6
Missed a gilt-edged chance early on before being replaced early in the second half
OWURA EDWARDS 9
Winger was hugely impressive throughout. Took his goal extremely well and provided assist for Chilvers' second
FREDDIE SEARS 8
Provided the assist for Edwards' strike and was unlucky not to score himself against his former club
SUBSTITUTES
JOHN AKINDE (for Hannant, 55) 7
Offered a different outlet for Colchester and made a difference after coming on
TYREIK WRIGHT (for Kenlock, 55) 7
Filled in well in a defensive role after coming on and also fired a decent chance wide late on
MILES WELCH-HAYES (for Edwards, 77)
Subs (not used): Eastman, Tchamadeu, Andrews, Hornby.
