COLCHESTER United are set to raise much-needed cash for Ukrainian refugees after making their home clash with League Two leaders Forest Green Rovers 'A Game for Ukraine'.

U's chairman Robbie Cowling has announced that all tickets for the game at the JobServe Community Stadium on March 21, which will be televised on Sky Sports, will be priced at £10, regardless of location or concession.

And all gate receipts from the match will be donated towards helping the refugees, without any deductions.

If any ticket already bought for the game works out to have cost less than £10, the U's say they will make up the difference.

And if that ticket works out to have cost more than £10 the club will refund the difference to the ticket holder's Privilege card.

Colchester are also hoping to wear a unique yellow and blue kit for the fixture subject to EFL permission, with the shirts to be auctioned after the game to raise money for the same cause.

In a statement, U's chairman Robbie Cowling said: "I’m sure many of you are feeling devastated by the events in the Ukraine.

"The generations in my family that came before me, including my parents, grandparents and great grandparents, fought for the freedom and the peace that I have been fortunate enough to enjoy during my lifetime.

"The same is likely to be true in many of the families that attend Colchester United games.

"I appreciate that there will be some of you who have not been so fortunate and may have come to Colchester to escape regimes where such privileges could not be taken for granted in the way that I have been able to.

"All I have been able to do so far is watch the news and marvel at the kindness being shown by those people in the countries that neighbour the Ukraine such as Poland and wonder what can be done to help those refugees that have been forced out of their homes and their normal lives and into a foreign country and an uncertain future.

"So to raise funds that can go towards humanitarian aid, Colchester United have decided to do the following:

"All tickets for the televised game against Forest Green Rovers on March 21st will be priced at £10.00, regardless of location or concession, and ALL gate receipts, without any deductions, will be donated towards helping the refugees.

"Where a ticket has already been purchased, such as a season ticket:

o If any ticket works out to have cost less than £10.00 the club will make up the difference.

o If that tickets works out to have cost more than £10.00 the club will refund the difference to the ticket holders `Privilege` card.

"No one will get a free ticket. For example, both teams are normally provided with a number of complimentary tickets, but for this game, I will ask them to pay for any they wish to receive.

"Where the club is obliged to give a complimentary ticket and can’t persuade the recipient to pay for it, then I will pay for it.

"Assuming we can get permission from the EFL, Colchester United will wear a unique yellow and blue kit for this fixture, and these shirts will be auctioned sometime after the game with the money raised going to the same cause.

"I hope you can get behind this event, and any other ideas for how the club can do more on that evening will be gratefully received.

"Up the U's

"Robbie."
