OWURA Edwards has set his sights on getting as much game time as possible for Colchester United between now and the end of the season.

The skilful winger has already made six appearances since joining the U's on loan from Championship club Bristol City, until the end of the campaign.

Edwards has already made three starts for Colchester since joining them last month and was impressive in their 2-2 draw with Carlisle United, last weekend.

The 20-year-old is hoping to keep his place for the U's trip to play Northampton Town - and is keen to make his mark.

Edwards told Col U TV: "I want to play as many games as I can.

"I want to come here, play loads of games and really get a grip on my football."

Gazette:

Colchester are Edwards' third loan club in the EFL, away from his parent club Bristol City.

The talented attacker spent the first half of this season on loan at the U's League Two rivals Exeter City, where he played 16 times.

Edwards also had a loan spell at Grimsby Town prior to that where he played under Ian Holloway before being recalled by the Robins to help ease an injury crisis.

The 20-year-old made four appearances, with one start, and has penned a two-year deal with the option of a further 12 months.

"I've had two loans and each of them was a great experience," said Edwards, who started his career at Newport County before joining Bristol City in the summer of 2019.

"I've taken many things on board and hopefully I can show all of the experience I've got here."

Gazette:

Edwards is hoping to help Colchester claim a vital victory at Northampton, this weekend.

The U's head to Sixfields lying five points above the League Two relegation zone and face a Northampton side who are chasing automatic promotion back to the third tier.

"Colchester shouldn't be where they are in the table," added Edwards, who netted on his U's debut against Sutton United last month, in Hayden Mullins' final game in charge.

"It's about time we really pick up our season.

"We've got loads of games still to play and I'm sure we'll be up there."
