COLCHESTER United missed out on a crucial victory against Carlisle United, at the weekend.

The U's were held to a 2-2 draw at the JobServe Community Stadium, in the League Two basement battle.

It looked as though Colchester might be on their way to a vital victory, after goals from Tommy Smith and substitute Tyreik Wright had cancelled out Omari Patrick's fine opener for the visitors.

But Tobi Sho-Silva's 86th-minute header denied Colchester victory, as the game ended in a draw.

They might not have got the victory, but Wayne Brown's side were near the top of the passing statistics in League Two at the weekend, according to www.whoscored.com

Colchester completed more than 500 passes in the game.

The U's made 502 passes in total against the Cumbrians and only three teams - Barrow, Rochdale and Newport County - completed more passes in the fourth tier on Saturday.

More specifically, Colchester played 89 long balls in total against Carlisle.

Only Crawley Town and Leyton Orient played more over the course of the weekend.

Gazette:

Colchester were also near the top of the short passing statistics in League Two in the latest round of fixtures.

Brown's team racked up 386 short passes in total against Carlisle.

Only four sides - Crawley Town, Barrow, Rochdale and Newport County - completed more short passes at the weekend, in their respective games.

Colchester have scored in all six of the games they have played under Brown.

And these revealing passing statistics perhaps demonstrate the positive way in which U's interim boss Brown wants his side to play, as they battle to move up the table and away from the relegation zone.
