WAYNE Brown is facing a goalkeeping dilemma ahead of Colchester United's crucial clash with Carlisle United this weekend.

The U's will have Shamal George available again for the visit of his former club, following his three-match suspension.

U’s interim boss Brown must decide whether or not to recall George or stick with Sam Hornby (pictured below), who has played the last three games in George's absence and made some impressive saves in their 2-1 defeat at Mansfield Town, on Tuesday night.

Brown said: “The more experienced and quality players you have at your disposal, the more your chances of getting success are enhanced.

“Sham will be a great asset to have back as will hopefully, a couple of the other lads.”

Colchester are also hoping to welcome back more players against Carlisle, having been without a host of players missing for the game at Mansfield.

John Akinde, Cole Skuse (pictured below), Emyr Huws, Noah Chilvers and Tom Dallison were all absent for the game at the One Call Stadium due to either injury or illness, while Ryan Clampin is still sidelined with a knee injury.

Brown added: “We’re still assessing a few - we’re hopeful that we’ll have a couple back.

“What comes with injuries to players is opportunity.

“It brings opportunity for the lads who have maybe been patient or have less experience to the ones that are out.

“What they do with that opportunity is then down to that individual.

“The lads who have come in have done great and they can only benefit from the experiences that they had on Tuesday (against Mansfield).”

Brown insists Colchester’s clash with Carlisle is no more important than any other game will be for them between now and the end of the season.

The U’s lie five points above the League Two relegation zone and host a Cumbrians side who are three points below them in the table and have lost their last four matches.

A win at the JobServe Community Stadium this weekend would give Colchester some much-needed breathing space between themselves and the bottom two.

However, U’s interim head coach Brown says each of their remaining games will be vital – not just the Carlisle showdown.

Brown said: “All of the games are important.

“The three points that were up for grabs on Tuesday night are of the same value as the three points that are up for grabs, on Saturday."
