WAYNE Brown insists Colchester United will head down the A12 in a positive frame of mind this afternoon ahead of their clash with Leyton Orient.

The U's take on the O's at the Breyer Group Stadium aiming to build on an encouraging three-match unbeaten run, in League Two.

Colchester have taken five points from a possible nine under Brown - and the U's interim boss wants that form to continue today.

Brown said: "An unbeaten run does generate more buy-in from the lads, more belief, more confidence.

"The more that you can keep the run going, the more that you can add to those things.

"We go into the Orient game with a positive frame of mind having not been beaten in three and we want to continue that.

"It's game by game.

"We need points on the board, of course we do but there's got to be due diligence with debriefs and looking at our own performances, after games.

"And then you concentrate on the next game.

"You try and out the things that were wrong right on the training pitch, so that when they step over that white line on a Saturday they know their roles and responsibilities.

"You can only really concentrate on it game by game - don't look at ifs and buts. "The most important game for us is Saturday, because it's the next one that comes along.

"Hopefully we'll get a positive result on Saturday and then hopefully you get a positive result and then Tuesday (at Mansfield Town) becomes the most important game.

"The more that we can keep putting that information into them and the more that the older players can keep putting that information into them, the more buy-in there will be as a collective.

"And the more buy-in there is, the more chance we have of getting positive results."

Gazette:

Colchester lie eight points above the relegation zone and face a Leyton Orient side who are without a win their last seven games, in all competitions.

Brown said: “It’ll be an important game for them but it’s another important game for us.

“We want to keep this run going for as long as we can and they’re probably on a bit of a sticky run at the moment.

“This is an important game for them, playing against a team who are in the bottom four or five in the league and I’m sure that they would feel that this is a good opportunity for them to get the three points.

“But we spin it and look at what we can try and do to them and we believe that there’s a real good opportunity for us to go there and get a win, which is ultimately the aim."

Gazette:

Colchester are in the middle of a gruelling schedule, with their trip to play Leyton Orient today the third of ten games in the space of 42 days.

The likes of Emyr Huws (pictured above) and Myles Kenlock had had limited game time prior to joining the U's in last month’s transfer window and Brown says they need to ensure they keep their players fresh.

Brown added: "It's a quick turnaround - the lads were off (on Wednesday) so we've had to wrap up a few in cotton wool (on Thursday) but now it's all about Saturday.

"A lot of the stuff that we've done since I've come in has been about opposition and how we nullify them.

"But you've also got to give credit to the teams we've played especially Swindon, who were totally different to what Salford did.

"So there was quite a lot of detail that we tried to put into the lads with regards to how to nullify opposition.

"I think it's important that we also concentrate on what we do, because I thought the transitions on Tuesday night were quite big and we can be better with the ball.

"But I think we've got the personnel in the team to hurt other teams and we showed glimpses of that against Rochdale but only in small periods.

"Can we now be more aggressive with what we do in possession?

"We had four or five really good opportunities (against Rochdale) and if they go in, it's a different game.

"They didn't but we've just got to keep believing in what we're doing."

Gazette:

Colchester are set to be backed by 1000-plus supporters at Leyton Orient today and boss Brown says they can make a difference.

He added: “It’s a great game to play in as a player and a great game to go to, as a supporter.

“It’s just down the road location wise and a bit of a derby.

“The support since I’ve been in has been fantastic.

“They’ve got right behind the lads and it’s no coincidence that the lads have thrived off that and done really well off the strength of the massive support we’ve had.

“I’m sure they’ll be there in numbers and full of voice and we’ve just got to keep backing the lads and sticking together.
