FORMER Colchester United loanee Sylvester Jasper joined Hibernian on loan on transfer deadline day.

The 20-year-old has joined the Scottish Premiership club for the rest of the 2021/22 campaign, with the Easter Road club also having an option to sign the winger permanently in the summer.

Jasper, who left Colchester last month and returned to Fulham following the completion of his loan move, has linked up with another former U's player at Hibs.

Drey Wright, who came through the academy at Colchester and played more than 150 times for the club before leaving them in 2018, is also at the Scottish club.

Hibs manager Shaun Maloney told the club's website: “Sylvester is a talented young player that possesses a lot of creativity and speed.

"He gives us extra options and can play on both the left and right in attacking areas.

“My staff and I are looking forward to working with him and welcoming him to the club.”

Jasper impressed after joining Colchester on loan from Fulham, last summer.

He made 24 league and cup appearances for the U's, scoring three times.

Jasper netted his first-ever senior goal for them last October when he scored the U's winner in their 1-0 win over Harrogate Town, at the JobServe Community Stadium.

And he followed that up with a fine strike in Colchester's televised FA Cup triumph over AFC Sudbury, in November.

Jasper also scored in the U's 3-1 triumph over Exeter City, in League Two.

He also made his debut for Bulgaria under-21s during his time at Colchester, featuring for more than an hour in their 3-1 defeat to their Netherlands counterparts in a Euro U21 qualifier, in November.

Now Jasper will be aiming to make a big impression at his new club Hibernian, in the final few months of the season.
